PlayStation has announced its Bug Bounty Program, an initiative aimed at getting gamers to hunt down bugs across the PS4 and PlayStation Network (PSN) platforms.
The push, announced by Geoff Norton; Sony’s senior director of software engineering on the PlayStation Blog, is part of a security revamp across the network, with Norton stating that “the security” of the company was “fundamental” in creating and maintaining “amazing experiences for our community.”
Those that are involved could also earn up to $50,000 USD
“We believe that through working with the security research community we can deliver a safer place to play,” explains Norton. “We have partnered with HackerOne to help run this program, and we are inviting the security research community, gamers, and anyone else to test the security of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Network.”
“To date, we have been running our bug bounty program privately with some researchers. We recognize (sic) the valuable role that the research community plays in enhancing security, so we’re excited to announce our program for the broader community.”
For those interested in getting involved, you can pop over to PlayStation Bug Bounty program at HackerOne’s website. You’ll also find a load of information as well as what the value of the bugs are.
