Rebellion has revealed that Zombie Army 4: Dead War will get two more seasons of downloadable content, with Season 2 kicking off later this year and Season 3 arriving at an unspecified point in 2021.
In a Developer Update video, Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley began by pointing that the hugely popular, B-movie-influenced zombie third-person shooter has seen its fans collectively dispatch over 2 billion zombie Nazis, a figure that includes over 50 million fragged Hitler clones.
Kingsley promised that Seasons 2 and 3 of Zombie Army 4’s DLC programme would: “Feature new campaign missions, character skins, weapons and more, including more free content.” Kingsley added that two free items of DLC from the first Season – a free Horde map entitled Zoo and a Crossbow Pistol bundle – have also just been made available.
Kingsley declined to offer much detail regarding precisely what Seasons 2 and 3 will bring to Zombie Army 4: Dead War, although Season 1 introduced three new paid Story Missions along with a welter of new Horde maps, skins, weapons and even a harder difficulty mode.
Towards the end of the video, Kingsley did offer glimpses of a couple of new levels designed for the game, likely to feature in both Horde mode and new Story Missions. It would be reasonable to expect Season 2 to kick off pretty soon, with Season 3 following quite early in 2021. Rebellion also stated that the new content for the game has been developed: “In conjunction with Flix Interactive”.
We’ve found Zombie Army 4: Dead War to be a source of great comfort and catharsis during the Covid-19 pandemic, and are looking forward to sampling the new content that Rebellion and Flix Interactive are preparing for it. We’ll bring you more concrete details the moment they emerge.
